About The MHA

MECHLIN-MECHLING-MACKLIN

Welcome to the Mechling Historical Association Blog!  This blog is to help those of us who are in the Mechling Historical Association to keep in contact and up to date with what is happening with others of our group.
The Mechling Historical Association (MHA) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), organization open to anyone interested in the history of Theobald and Jacob Mechling and the area of Pennsylvania where they first settled.  The brothers arrived in America on 15 Jun 1728. Here is thier story:

Theobald and Jacob left their home, which was likely in the Lower Palatinate or Lower Alsace area, and journeyed to Rotterdam where they boarded the ship "James Goodwill", David Crokatt, master. The ship sailed from Rotterdam to Deal, England. From there, on 15 Jun 1728, it sailed for America, arriving in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 11 Sep 1728.

The family listings and information can be found at http://www.deffler.com/family/mechling/.

If you have questions or need information you can email MHAblog1728@gmail.com.  Please forward news items for posting on our blog.

I plan to try to update and evolve this blog as a way to "publish" all the information that would normally go into our newsletter, which we have been having problems producing.  I have information from 2010 that has never made it into a newsletter and so I will try to figure out a way to publish that as soon as I can.

I am learning how to do this at the same time so I hope to make this better to read and to look at.  Let me know if you have any suggestions or ideas for blogs and I will take any advice at all from anyone.

Don't forget to check us out on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/144996475537540/

Thank You!
